In the recent past we have finished numerous projects including fixed piers, ramps and floats, seawalls made of stone, concrete and composite sheeting and recently several tidal wetland restoration projects. We have also installed new floats in a marina and built a new gas dock for another marina. All of our projects have been finished on time and at the contract price and in several instances below the contract price.

G & C Marine Services LLC pride ourselves on the quality of our work. We work extremely hard to meet the schedule we give you and do not overbook our work. It is most important to us to finish on time and on budget. We believe we are only as good as our last job and strive to never leave a customer dissatisfied.

Fixed piers, ramps and floats:
We have recently completed numerous fixed piers with aluminum gangways and floating docks. These projects were permitted by the CT DEP and the Army Corps of Engineers. Photos of a few of these projects are included in the "Past Projects" section of this web site. There are many options and various levels of finish for these structures. We work closely with the property owner and often also the permitting agent and/or engineer to ensure that the customer is happy with the final product.

Options on these structures include decking materials of pressure treated lumber, various hardwood decking including IPE and Garapa hardwoods and composite decking materials of various colors and makes.

Handrails are always a very individual design and range from very basic open designs to intricate details including stainless steel cable and hardware or composite railings. Some situations require the handrail to meet building codes while others are designed to fit into the landscape or to be as unobtrusive as possible. A major concern is often the impact the handrail will have on a neighbors view.

Our floats are made with PVC encapsulated foam floatation attached to pressure treated framing and all fasteners are hot dipped galvanized steel or stainless steel. The decking is the customers choice as well as the freeboard of the deck (height above the water) . Kayakers and rowers have found our "kayak bench" a very popular option offering them a float with a freeboard that is comfortable for boaters with an area of the float having a low freeboard to allow easy access onto the kayak or rowing shell.

Winter storage of floats:
G & C Marine Services LLC offers winter float storage to all of our customers. While in storage floats are repaired as needed and returned in the spring ready for another season.

Tidal wetland restoration:
We have completed several tidal wetland restoration projects involving the planting of specific grasses and plants that are intended to reduce erosion and create new tidal wetlands. Several of the projects were engineered designs utilizing different materials to assist in soil retention during the period when the salt tolerant plants are establishing themselves. These projects have been very successful with excellent survival rates for the new plants and accomplishing the soil retention goals of the project while satisfying all environmental permit requirements. Photos of these projects will be updated to show the growth of the plants from the time of installation until maturity of the established wetlands.

Seawalls:
We have finished many seawalls of various materials. Recent projects include permitted and engineered designs of both new and rebuilt seawalls. We have done many masonry seawalls as well composite walls. We also have experience in timber and driven sheet steel walls.

Permitting:
We do not offer permitting as a service of G & C Marine Services LLC We do however offer to assist you at no cost in contracting with a permit agent or if your project requires, a structural engineer that is experienced in coastal engineering. We will then work closely with the chosen firm through the completion of your project. We have several permitting agents and engineering firms that we work with on a regular basis.
